As a Christian at University, it is so important to get stuck into a local Church, and in Loughborough there are plenty to choose from! The CU is made up of students from lots of different Churches and even if we have different worship styles or use different Bible translations, we are united around the good news.
Here is a list of some (not all!!) Churches in Loughborough. If you are looking for a Church to join please come to CU and chat to students at different Churches and invite yourself along - we'd love to help you find a Church that suits you!
Please note that the below information may not be up to date with the latest COVID-19 related changes. For the most up to date information, we recommend visiting the churches' websites.
Emmanuel is a large, lively, growing Christian community near the centre of Loughborough. Part of the Church of England,
we’re an evangelical church which welcomes everyone, in expectation that all will be transformed by God’s love. The congregation is made up of people from varying backgrounds and of different ages. There is a more traditional service at 9am, a family service at 10:45am and a more contemporary service at 6:30pm. Students and young people often meet from 6:00pm at the church to catch up with each other, spend time in prayer or to chill out playing pool, football or frisbee before the evening service. As a church our desire is to get to know you and welcome you into our family, a supportive and safe place to begin or continue your journey with God. We welcome you into our community of love, support and discipleship. We hope that you grow as a disciple of Jesus Christ, engaging with him through the Bible, through Worship and Prayer individually and as a church.
Sunday services, 10.30am and 6.30pm
Holywell Church is an independent evangelical church on the south-west side of Loughborough, approximately 10 minutes walk from the university library. We have around 170 people join us every Sunday morning to worship God and hear from his word, who make up a diverse congregation from all parts of the world, especially from China, Korea, and Romania, as well as Britain. We place a high emphasis on the authority of God's word, and the importance of each person repenting of sin and trusting in Christ for the forgiveness of sins. We aim to serve Christ by loving him and his people, and by making him known throughout Loughborough.
We’re situated within a few minutes walk of the University. At Grace, we are passionate about making our freshers feel supported during their transition to Uni and we are passionate in supporting and mentoring all of our students who come along.
We are a thriving church, offering hospitality, great ministry and church activities for the whole family and you can get involved in most things. Church meets at 11am and at 4pm at Charnwood College.
We have 5 Community Life groups meeting over the course of the week and this is where we do life together. Come along: food, fellowship and fun awaits you!
The Well Church
We’re a part of New Frontiers and are a congregation of students, recent grads and a growing number of families. Our vision is to see students as a fully integrated part of our church through getting you involved with serving in different teams across the church, as well as being part of our midweek Community Groups.
Whilst we want students to be part of the whole church family, we recognise that you face unique situations and opportunities. Therefore, twice a term, we run student-specific events; one a teaching event called 'Ignition', the other a social. Additionally, during the second term, we run a Student Day, where we lay on worship, seminars and talks.
Our Sunday meetings start with drinks and cake, which is a great opportunity to catch up and spend time together, before moving into a time for all ages, to praise God together as family, seeking what the Holy Spirit is saying to us as individuals and a congregation. The kids and youth head out to their groups, and we carry on worshipping before receiving from the Bible during the talk. Afterwards, we pray, chat and finish off the drinks and cake together.
If you’d like to know more or want to come along and visit, feel free to email email@example.com or speak to Michaela Anthony, Jack Taylor or Jacobus Klopper.
Meetings: Sunday at 10:30am, Charnwood College (Gate 4), Loughborough, LE11 4SQ
Our mission statement is 'Making Disciples who establish Heaven on Earth'. Students are central to the DNA of Open Heaven! We were birthed out of a move of God in students that happened in Towers halls of residents over 20 years ago.
Our OH1 gathering for 18-30’s meets in the afternoon in the heart of the students union. Every week we worship, immerse ourselves in scripture and push into God's presence together; propelled into a lifestyle of discipleship and mission.
During the week we run Club Mission every FND (biggest student night out) in the Students Union. This is a space for us to share the love of Jesus practically by giving those on a night out a place to relax, to be heard and loved.
Student Small Groups are our primary place where we can belong, grow in our faith and be used to see heaven established on earth. For Freshers, we have specific Small Groups that meet on campus every Wednesday and Thursday.
We encourage our students to be adventurous and to dream big with God, to step out to see his Kingdom come, in Loughborough as in Heaven.
We meet on Sunday at 4.30pm in Room 1, Student’s Union, LE113TT Email: firstname.lastname@example.org

CHRIST CHURCH LOUGHBOROUGH
Christ Church is an evangelical reformed Church.
We are Christ's Church which means we belong to Jesus and He has gathered us. King Jesus is alive, and reigns and rules through His word. He is calling a people to Himself from all tribes, tongues and nations, and gathers them into local churches across the world.
We are evangelical, meaning we are all about the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. We believe the Bible is God's word about His Son Jesus Christ. We believe God speaks through His word, and so we preach and teach the Bible.
We are reformed which means we stand within the tradition of historic creeds and confessions of the church, and the reformed confessions or statements of faith from the reformation and post reformation eras.
Join us at Fearon Hall (Rectory Road, LE11 1PL), each Sunday at 3pm.
The Junction Church
The Junction Church is absolutely bursting with student life. We are a multi-national church with 45 nations represented and 100's who call this church their home. Our main Sunday services happen at De Lisle College (Thorpe Hill, LE11 4SQ). This is just a short walk from the student village. We offer two Sunday morning gatherings. Our 09:15 am Chapel service is reflective and intimate. Our 10:45 am Celebration is upbeat and contemporary. You're welcome to try any of these out. We also offer free Sunday lunch to students every week.
Beyond the weekend, our mid-week community is thriving too, with dozens of life groups meeting across Loughborough. These are smaller gatherings where we snack, chat & pray - and grow in our journey of following Christ. When it comes to developing students, we offer a wide range of opportunities for you including worship leading, leadership training, theological study, community action, kids work, missions and much more. It really world be worth your while to check us out. We are passionate about seeing you become everything God has called you to be.
We're part of the Hillsong network. This means we get to lean into the creativity of one of the most cutting edge churches in the world. We're also part of the Assemblies of God, the largest pentecostal denomination in the UK with 500 churches across 700 locations. Our lead pastors Roy & Lydia Todd are the leaders of AoG in Central England.
New Life Community Church
New Life Community Church is a Bible-based Jesus loving church, whose aim is to be just that - showing the love of Jesus to one another and our local community through teaching the Gospel. The church family is diverse and welcoming; the teaching is challenging, relevant and helpful; the worship is contemporary. As a student we want to involve you in our church family and there are plenty of ways to do that: in growth groups, in worship services, in children's & young people's activities, in outreach projects, and in just spending time with other church members (your church family).
The church takes about 25 mins to walk to from the students union. If you would like any more information then please contact us by emailing email@example.com. We look forward to seeing you soon, getting to know you, and seeing you grow in your faith!
